The Villa Rizzardi is located in Negrar, which is a 30 minutes drive from Verona. Looking back in times, the Pojega estate was purchased in 1649 by the Counts Rizzardi, who resided in Verona. The garden, commissioned in 1783 by Antonio Rizzardi (1742-1808) to Luigi Trezza (1752-1823), represents one of the last examples of an Italian garden known for its green theater and spectacular perspectives.
The villa, characterized by a regular and geometric "horseshoe" planimetry, opens to the garden through a courtyard. The three floors have the same distribution development, with precisely aligned corridors and rooms. The east facade is characterized by the presence of a corridor that connects the noble floor with a large semicircular terrace at the level of the garden.
With its total of 54.000 square meters that includes a theatre, gardens, walls & galleries, it offers the perfect amenities for a one of a kind Italy wedding for up to 250 guests.
After their Civil Wedding, Rubina & Severin wanted to plan something special to celebrate their love, so they chose to host a destination wedding in Italy. The perfect occasion for a weekend getaway for all their closest friends & family! As Verona is quite easy & fast to reach by car from Germany, they decided to celebrate at Villa Rizzardi & take Nele Holland-Moritz & me with them to capture their wedding.
REHEARSAL Dinner LOCANDA BUGLIONI
The evening before their big day, Rubina & Severin invited all their guests to a rehearsal dinner at Locanda Buglioni. Rehearsal dinners are a tradition from the US that are usually held one night before the wedding ceremony. Especially for destination weddings, this is the perfect occasion to already spend some time with your guests – let's be honest: one day passes so quickly, so why not extending your wedding just a bit! Plus, your destination wedding photographer can already connect with some of your most important people, which is going to result in better memories for you.
Destination Wedding VILLA RIZZARDI
Rubina & Severin's wedding day started in the early afternoon when they were both doing their preparations separately. Nele was photographing Rubina's 'Getting Ready' in a different Villa and I was with Severin & his grooms men at Villa Rizzardi.
Their guests arrived in the afternoon starting with a little aperitif accompanied by an amazing string band, so that you felt a little like you were part of Bridgerton. Then everyone was slowly moving across the venue to the amphitheater where the ceremony took place. Rubina had a little first look with her grandpa, who then brought her down the stairs into the center of the theater. During the ceremony not only Rubina & Severin got married & many tears were shed but also a little girl did her first steps & a cute Goldie made his appearance.
After the ceremony, a marvelous champagne tower was ready to start the reception – many hugs, Aperol Spritz & delicious food. I guess a wedding in Italy just cannot disappoint, solely because of the food. After the sun had set, the whole wedding party went down to a long dinner table within a tree avenue. The food party continued with different courses of Italian risotto, meat & more, which were accompanied by some emotional speeches of friends & family.
For dessert everyone went back to the amphitheater where Rubina & Severin performed a dance and then cut their wedding cake. Some drinks at the bar kicked off the party, which ended at the ground floor of Villa Rizzardi, where Rubina & Severin's friends showed their DJ skills!
